Unlike other years where pupils sitting for KCPE were only allowed to choose secondary schools after the release of exams, in 2019, the candidates will be allowed to choose before the exams.
Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) pupils now have until the end of July to select their preferred secondary schools.
The class 8 pupils will be allowed to choose from four national schools, four extra-county pool and two from the county schools and a day school making a total of 11 choices for each pupils.
This will save time for learners once the results are out.
“Having been in class eight for two terms, parents can now assess their children’s capability and help them make informed decisions. There will be no more requests to change schools in January,” Basic Education PS Belio Kipsang said in Nairobi.
