Nigerian singer Guchi, known for her hit song “Jennifer,” has been making the most of her time in Kenya, and her latest culinary adventure has had fans buzzing. Over the weekend, Guchi, born Ugochi Lydia Onuoha, was introduced to one of Kenya’s beloved street foods: mutura, also known as African sausage, by digital creator Oga Obinna.

Guchi’s First Mutura Experience

Mutura is a delicacy made from goat or cow intestines, stuffed with a mixture of meat and blood, then roasted to perfection. The treat is popular on Nairobi’s bustling streets, and it wasn’t long before Obinna took Guchi to experience it for herself.

In a video that has since gone viral, the two arrive at a street vendor in style, driving luxury cars before heading straight to the grilling station. As Obinna demonstrated how to enjoy the delicacy, Guchi cautiously tried her first bite. She smiled and nodded in approval, though her slow chewing and careful approach had some netizens questioning whether she genuinely enjoyed the experience or was simply being polite.

The Fans React

As Guchi’s video made the rounds on social media, Kenyans were quick to analyze her reaction. Some fans were convinced that the Nigerian star wasn’t too keen on the dish, suggesting her body language hinted at discomfort. One commenter joked about Guchi chewing only three times, humorously implying she wasn’t a fan of the dish.

Others pointed out that Nigerians eat a variety of unusual foods, including hooves, so it was unlikely she’d be too put off by mutura. However, some took a lighter view, suggesting she was being polite in a foreign setting.

Despite the mixed reactions, Guchi handled the moment with grace, smiling through it all and engaging in the cultural exchange with Obinna.

Guchi’s Generosity in Kenya

Apart from her culinary adventures, Guchi has also made headlines for her charitable work in Kenya. A few days before her mutura experience, the singer made a significant donation of KSh 500,000 to a children’s home in Riruta Satellite. The heartwarming gesture was captured on video as Guchi personally handed over the cheque to the staff and bonded with the children, engaging them in songs and dance.

Her kindness has earned her admiration from Kenyans, and her efforts to connect with the local culture have made her stay in Kenya even more memorable.

As for the mutura debate, it seems like Guchi’s first experience with Kenyan street food will continue to be a topic of conversation, with fans eagerly awaiting her next move in the cultural exchange between Nigeria and Kenya.
