Migori Governor Okoth Obado is set to spend more than 12 days at Industrial Area Prison in remand as police continue with their investigation over the cause of Sharon Otieno murder.
“At this juncture I am disallowing the application and he will appear with the others on October 8th,” Justice Jessie Lessit said.
High Court Judge Jessie Lessit agreed with the prosecution of Mr.Obado on grounds that the suspect would likely tamper with evidence, security and investigation of the ongoing case.
“The nature has been changing and more and more are being charged with the case. Interference can also be affected by the releasing of some of the persons facing the same charge,” she said.
Mr.Obado’s lawyer Cliff Ombetta challenged Senior investigation officer Clement Mwangi and the court stating that according to article 49, suspects brought before the court had rights to be granted with bail.
While Mr.Mwangi remained adamant that the suspect could intimidate the witnesses linked to the case.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Sharon’s mother Melida Auma said that the police should dig deep and bring forth Sharon’s murder.
