President Uhuru Update On Reopening Of Schools

President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the end of cessation in Nairobi, Mombasa and Mandera on 6th July 2020.

However, the night curfew remains effective for another 30 days

End of cessation

Cessation of movement into and out of Nairobi, Mombasa & Mandera will lapse on Tuesday 4 am, nationwide curfew extended for 30 days.

Opening of Churches

President Kenyatta on phased reopening of places of worship

– Only 100 individuals to be allowed in places of worship for not more than 1 hour

– Sundays schools & Madrasas to remain closed

– Congregants should be above 13-years old and below 58-years-old

Return of Transport

-Local transport to resume on 15th July, in strict compliance with guidelines.

-International travel to resume effective 1st Aug in strict conformity with local and international civil aviation authorities.

Education

Education CS George Magoha to update Kenyans between 7th July and 8th July on new Education Calendar

Public gatherings

Restriction on public gatherings, political meetings is extended for a further 30 days.

Restrictions to wedding and funeral attendance extended for 30 days.

Night Curfew

Curfew remains in place for a further 30 days.

Day to dawn curfew that is in force from 5am to 9pm is extended by a further 30 day.

Future Plans

The order to reopen is conditional. Should the situation deteriorate, we will revert back to lockdown. In the next 21 days we shall study patterns & spread of the disease.
