Kenyan-American Professor of Law Makau Mutua has desputed the controversial 118 doctorate degrees offered by JKUAT during their 33rd graduation ceremony on 21st June in 2019.
Prof. Mutua, through his official Twitter handle, warned that the 118 PhDs had questions to draw concerns over the authenticity.

On June 21st, 2019 Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology aka JKUAT conferred a total of 118 doctorate degrees during its annual graduation ceremony.

From Prof. Mathu’s speech, it was clear that JKUAT had since January 2019, acquired 38 new intellectual property rights, including seven patents, one utility model, 26 trademarks, three copyrights and industrial design.
On social media, Kenyans were shocked with the highest number of doctorate degrees honours aka PhDs who graduated on the same day.
Many argued that JKUAT did not have required facilities and number of professors to supervise the 118 graduates
