The PropelA Dual Apprenticeship Project is launching a call for applications for the second cohort of its programme. The programme is open to young Kenyan men and women aged 18-30 who are passionate about plumbing and electrical trades.
The apprenticeship is a two-year programme that combines theoretical training at a technical college with practical training at a partner company. The project is financed by the Hilti Foundation and is a part of Swisscontact’s Development Programme, which is co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The project is part of Swisscontact’s commitment to supporting youth employment in Kenya. It is designed to address the skills gap in the plumbing and electrical trades, and to help young people acquire the skills and experience they need to find good jobs by providing access to real-world projects, experienced mentors and a supportive learning environment.
The first cohort of 100 was admitted last year with 78 male and 22 female apprentices.
Application is open to young men and women who are passionate about plumbing and electrical trades. They must have completed secondary school and are aged 18-30. They must also be able to speak and write English fluently as well as commit to two years of full-time training.

The successful applicants will not pay any fees for the programme and will receive a stipend to cover their living expenses.
