Baba Kaunty’s Reasons for Leaving

In a candid statement, Baba Kaunty revealed that his departure was a personal choice aimed at prioritizing upcoming projects and training. The comedian disclosed that the training program, which spans three months, and other commitments scheduled for Mondays clashed with his role on the show.

“Leaving the Obinna Show was my own choice. No one decided for me. I had already made up my mind that I would quit by the beginning of the year. I even didn’t know how to tell Obinna that I wanted to leave,” he shared.

The comedian emphasized his respect for Obinna and the platform, stating that stepping away was the best way to balance his new ventures without compromising the show’s quality.

From Guest to Key Contributor

Baba Kaunty’s journey on the Obinna Show began as a guest in an interview segment, but his unique comedic flair earned him a permanent spot. Known for his cross-dressing persona on the show, he transitioned to wearing men’s clothing in December 2024 following public feedback. As the guest attendant, Baba Kaunty added humor while serving refreshments to the guests, becoming a fan favorite in the process.

Following his exit, he has been replaced by up-and-coming comedian Pamela Aely, marking a new chapter for the show.

Gratitude to Obinna

Despite his departure, Baba Kaunty had nothing but praise for Oga Obinna, expressing his gratitude for the mentorship and opportunities he received.

“Obinna took me under his wings and rebranded me. He picked me when I was confused, and that platform is the best. There’s a lot to learn even from the guests,” Baba Kaunty said in a TikTok video.

He dismissed any speculation of bad blood between him and Obinna, emphasizing their amicable relationship.

Transition from Cross-Dressing

Baba Kaunty’s change in appearance came after former rapper Bamboo publicly advised him to stop cross-dressing and embrace a more traditional male persona. Bamboo encouraged him to focus on his talent, stating that success did not depend on cross-dressing. The comedian heeded the advice, marking a significant shift in his public image.

Looking Ahead

As Baba Kaunty embarks on new endeavors, fans are eager to see what he has in store. His decision to prioritize personal growth and training reflects his commitment to evolving as a comedian and entertainer.

Meanwhile, Oga Obinna’s show continues with a fresh dynamic brought by Pamela Aely, ensuring the laughter and entertainment fans have come to expect.

Baba Kaunty’s exit serves as a testament to his respect for mentorship and his drive to keep growing. His story is a reminder that change, while challenging, is often necessary for progress.
