Father Mokaya pursued advanced theological education, earning both Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Sacred Theology from the University of Nairobi, Duquesne University in the United States, and institutions in Rome. His academic achievements complemented his pastoral work, enabling him to guide communities with wisdom and insight.
News of Father Mokaya’s death prompted an outpouring of grief across social media. Parishioners and faithful remembered him as a compassionate shepherd and devoted servant of God. Jane Kogi shared, “This servant of God truly cared for the spiritual lives of our parents and our community. He was there to lay my Mum to rest when she was called home. A proud Kisii who spoke fluent Kikuyu, a beautiful symbol of unity and love beyond tribe. Nyamang’ara Parish deeply appreciates your service, Fr. Mokaya. You fought the good fight, you finished the race, and you kept the faith. Rest in eternal peace, Father. Your work lives on in the lives you touched.”
