City preacher Reverend Lucy Natasha has officially announced the permanent closure of her Empowerment Christian Church (ECC) at Biashara Plaza, Nairobi, following the expiration of the church’s five-year lease. The gospel minister, widely known as Mama Oracle, revealed that the closure is a strategic step toward establishing her own land for a church sanctuary, television ministry, and school.
In a statement released on Sunday, January 11, Natasha assured her congregants that worship would continue online, emphasizing that the church’s mission is not tied to a physical building. “ECC is more than a building. Our services continue fully online, and our global digital church reaches over 10 million people worldwide. Millions have been touched through our online services, and that impact continues,” she said.
The minister clarified that rumours surrounding the closure are false and urged unity among her followers. “To those spreading falsehoods, I choose forgiveness. To our sons and daughters, ministry partners, and friends: let us stand together as we step into this next level. If God places it on your heart, you can partner with us as we move forward. It is the beginning of something greater,” Natasha added.
In a follow-up statement on Wednesday, January 14, Natasha explained that the decision to close the Biashara Plaza location permanently was forward-looking. “This decision is strategic and forward-looking. As a ministry, we are trusting God to secure our own permanent place, land that will host a church sanctuary, a television ministry, and a school. This step is about ownership, legacy, and long-term impact,” she noted.
Social media users reacted with support and encouragement. Bilal Kimeu wrote, “The pain of ministry is deeper than the depth of an ocean. But God is faithful and renews strength.” Joyce Pakade encouraged Natasha to pursue her vision, stating, “The mandate is already approved; it’s only the orchestration and acceleration towards completion that need prayers. You will possess your possession, Woman of God.” Other followers expressed optimism for the new chapter, describing it as a move toward building a lasting legacy.
Natasha’s decision marks a pivotal moment for ECC, signaling a shift toward long-term planning and digital expansion. The church’s online platforms will continue to host services and outreach programs, ensuring continuity for its global congregation while the ministry works toward establishing permanent infrastructure.
This closure reflects Natasha’s focus on legacy, strategic growth, and the long-term impact of her ministry. Congregants are encouraged to join her online services and participate in the next phase of ECC’s development.
