Gospel singer Ruth Matete has given her followers an honest look into the realities of her life as a single mother living in Canada. In a heartfelt social media post, the singer shared the financial and emotional challenges she faces while balancing work and raising her young daughter without the support of close family. Her candid update resonated with thousands of fans who appreciated her openness about the sacrifices required to provide for her child. Rather than portraying a perfect life abroad, Matete chose to reveal the everyday struggles that many single parents experience. Her message quickly sparked conversations about the high cost of childcare, the importance of family support and the resilience required to overcome life’s challenges.

In her Facebook post, Ruth Matete explained how her work schedule affects her daily routine and childcare arrangements. She revealed that she was preparing to work an afternoon shift from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. after dropping her daughter off with a babysitter. According to the singer, she pays as much as 75 Canadian dollars, which is approximately KSh 6,800, for childcare during those shifts. She noted that while working is necessary to provide for her family, the cost of childcare significantly reduces the amount she is able to save. Her experience reflects the financial pressures that many working parents face, especially those raising children on their own.

Matete also explained that not all of her work shifts carry the same childcare expenses. She shared that when she works overnight from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., childcare costs are considerably lower at just 10 Canadian dollars. However, she admitted that her preferred schedule is the morning shift because it fits better with her daughter’s school routine. On school days, her daughter is able to attend classes while Matete works, allowing her to collect the child from the school bus after finishing her shift. Unfortunately, with schools closed for the holidays, that arrangement is no longer possible, forcing her to rely on paid childcare more often and increasing her daily expenses.

Beyond the financial burden, Matete’s post revealed the emotional challenges that come with raising a child without the support of her late mother. She admitted that she deeply misses having her mother around, especially during moments when parenting becomes overwhelming. In her emotional reflection, she wrote that if her mother were still alive, she would have gladly left her daughter in her care until she was much older. Her words highlighted the important role grandparents often play in helping families raise children and easing the pressures faced by working parents. Losing that source of love and support at a young age has clearly remained one of the most painful parts of her life.

Despite the hardships, Ruth Matete made it clear that gratitude continues to guide her outlook. She acknowledged that life has not been easy but expressed appreciation for how far she has come. She credited God for giving her the strength and ability to continue providing for her daughter despite the many obstacles she encounters. Her faith has long been an important part of both her personal life and her music career, and it remains a source of encouragement as she navigates the responsibilities of single motherhood. Her message served as a reminder that resilience often involves recognizing challenges while remaining thankful for the progress made along the way.

The singer’s honesty quickly drew an outpouring of support from her followers across social media. Many fans sympathized with the financial pressures of childcare and praised her determination to work hard for her daughter’s future. Others were deeply touched by her comments about missing her mother and understood the emotional weight of raising a child without extended family nearby. Some supporters even offered to babysit her daughter free of charge if they were in a position to help. The responses demonstrated the compassion of her online community and showed how authentic stories often inspire people to offer encouragement and practical support.

Ruth Matete’s experience also reflects a challenge faced by many parents living abroad. Relocating to another country often brings opportunities for career growth and a better future, but it can also mean living far away from relatives who would normally provide emotional and practical support. Without grandparents, siblings or close family members nearby, many parents must rely on professional childcare services that can be expensive. This reality places additional financial pressure on single parents who are already balancing employment, household responsibilities and childcare. Matete’s story highlights the sacrifices many families make in pursuit of stability and a better life.

Ruth Matete’s heartfelt update has resonated with many people because it presents an honest picture of the realities behind life as a working single mother. Her willingness to discuss expensive childcare, the absence of her late mother and the emotional challenges of raising a child abroad has inspired empathy from fans across social media. At the same time, her gratitude and determination demonstrate remarkable strength in the face of adversity. The overwhelming support she received shows that honesty can create meaningful connections and remind people they are not alone in their struggles. As Ruth Matete continues building a life for herself and her daughter in Canada, her story stands as a powerful example of perseverance, faith and unconditional love.
