The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking to fill an internship position under the Human Resources Unit of the WFP Somalia Country Office. The position will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. The Internship will be for an initial period of 6 months starting from September 2016.
HR Internship Description
The selected candidate will be assisting the Human Resources Unit with the following key duties:
- Assist the HR Unit implementing the 2016 learning and development plan for the Country Office;
- Work closely with the Training Cell in producing monthly training calendars and monthly reports on training activities;
- Monitor and capture the completion of mandatory WFP trainings, and maintain and update the HR database;
- Support training activities, including HR clinics, orientation sessions, briefings etc.
- Perform other duties as required.
Essential Requirements for HR Internship
- Currently enrolled and have attended University courses in the last 12 months inclusive of having completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated in the last 12 months, with a University degree in Human Resource Management with an interest in learning and development;
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point);
- Fluent in English, Somali is an added advantage;
- Analytical ability to compile, maintain and analyse data, prepare reports and draw initial conclusions in support of work carried out by other HR staff;
- Good communication skills required to give and receive information and work with a variety of individuals;
- Kenyan nationality
Terms and Conditions
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$700 per month depending on the duty station of assignment. (current amount for Kenya is around $600)
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, travel to and from WFP internship location, necessary visas and costs related.
