In a bizarre incident long serving Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has revealed that his government has been ‘giving bribe’ to citizens who are living on wetlands so as they leave and move to other places.
And bold enough, he seemed to encourage the Kenyan government to adopt the same measure if they wish to see those occupying wet lands relocate.
He made this revelations during the Blue Economy Conference opened on Monday at the Kenyatta International Convention Center, Nairobi.
“We are trying to bribe our people who invaded the wetlands to get out. Give them money, please get out of the wetlands. It’s a type of bribe that is better than crude (way of) removing them. Because that will also cause other problems because we need votes because if it’s not the side of votes those people would move freely” said the 74 year old President.
According to Foreign Affairs CS, Museveni was among the head of states attending the event. The event also had more than 11,000 delegates confirmed to be attending
