Earlier on 6th April, 2018, police in Tharaka Nithi seized rolls of bhangs and several cans of alcohol in a Nairobi bound matatu which was ferrying 33 students to Nairobi for their April holiday.
The rogue driver of Huruma Minibus Sacco declined to slow down when he was stopped by police manning the traffic lines.
After a hot pursuit of police chase, they surrendered near Kangoro.
Among the 33 teen students, 9 girls were from Karamugi Girls while the rest of the 24 boys came from Ikuu Boys school.
The students were briefly held at police station before they were taken back to school.
The driver and the conductor, however, were held back at the police station pending further investigation.
