Teenage Escapes From Parents After WhatsApp Row

Shilah Mwaniki was reported missing from Nairobi’s Utawala area after the 13 year old teenager had a wrangle with her mother over her excessive consumption of WhatsApp application.

Mwaniki, a class 8 pupil was denied to use the instant messaging mobile up due to her loss of concentration in studies especially with the oncoming KCPE exams.

The mother is said to have deleted the app and confiscated the phone, an act that led her running away from their homestead leaving behind a note

“Thank you mom and dad for raising me well, may Jehova continue to bless you. But for now, I need to go. I am a big girl and I can take care of myself. Please don’t bother looking for me,” it reads in part.

In her letter the Utawala Academy Primary pupil,also apologized to her siblings Jossie, Karimi, Chris and Veronicah for the trouble she had caused them.

WhatsApp application is the 2nd most used application in Kenya after Facebook as a social network
