Below is a list of Kenyas top music producers. Some are newbies while others have been in the game for quite sometime now. In no particular order, check out our list of 7
1. Kevin Provoke
He is one of the most respected modern day music producers. The hitmaker has worked with artists such as Rabbit, Xtatic, Nonini, Bamzigi, Cannibal and Wangechi.
2. Philip Makanda
He is one of the best beat producers in the country and owns Main Switch Group. He has worked with artists such as Daddy Owen, Jaguar, Papa Dennis, Big Pin etc
3. Freddie W Dillie
He is well known in the music world as Dillie and is one of Kenya’s biggest music producers. He is famous for producing hits for Rabbit, JayA, Sage, Daddy Owen, Wyre, M.O.G, MDQ etc
4. R Kay
He has several labels under his belt, singer, songwriter, actor, music director and producer. He has worked with the great Oliver Mtukudzi, Lady Jay Dee, Kidum, Redsan, Owiyo, Wyree, Prezzo, Bobby Wine, Iddi Achieng among others. He co-owns gospel record label ShammahBoyMusic and has produced popular artists sich as Roughtone and Henrie Mutuku
5. Eric Musyoka
He is a trained sound engineer and producer renowned for producing some of the most famous songs in Kenya.He has been in the game for over a decade. Musyoka has worked with Nameless, Nonini, Juliani, Just A band, P-Unit, Bamboo, Wyre and the list goes on. He is an award-winning producer after scooping the 2006 Kisima awards Producer of the year.
6. Clement Rapudo
He is also known as ‘Clemo’ famous for the ‘beat ya clemo’ phrase. He has produced hits for Mejja, Jimwatt, Juacali and Nonini. He is the co-founder of Calif records.
7. Ogopa Deejays
It was the IT production company in the 90s cofounded by brothers Francis and Lucas Bikedo. It has produced hit songs for East Africa’s greats such as Chameleone, Redsan, Bebe Cool, Nameless, Wahu, Avril, Kleptomaniax, Amani and the list is endless
