Social networks have always been used to commit crimes or abuse. In recent years there have been several cases in which criminals or abusers take advantage of vulnerable situations of people to be able to attack them. Another complex situation is the enormous growth of bullying by social networks, a direct and public method to affect an individual or a group of them.

One of the platforms most used by bullies is undoubtedly Twitter. This social network is flexible enough to create apocryphal accounts in order to use them to create clutter and annoy people.

Twitter is taking action on the matter after the terrible growth of this type of practices. The platform has decided to send an email to accounts that pose a threat to other users.

The message sent to users is as follows:

“We have detected potential abusive behavior from your account, only your followers will be able to see your activity on Twitter for a certain period of time.”

If your account is marked as having abusive content you will not be able to send messages to users who do not follow you. The suspension will not only be effective by using undue words but by having an “abusive” account in general.

Twitter has for some time been implementing security and privacy policies to make the platform safer, however, abusers always find ways to keep breaking laws and generating offensive content.
