Two grand weddings in Nigeria which happened last week, cannot be described in just one single line.

Their brides were forced to leave their grooms in order to sit for their final exams at Benue State University while still dressed in their wedding white gowns.

Dorcas Atsea and Deborah Atoh had planned their weddings in advance, but a short notice from the varsity had indicated that the exams dates would be changed which unfortunately fell on their big days.

Efforts by the two to seek the adjacent of the dates failed. Instead, the two women chose to take the bulls by its horns when they managed between marrying and siting for the  “Media Ethics and Law” exams.

“I went to the exam officer, she said I should choose between the two: the exam or the wedding, my wedding was already fixed and I already told people it was April 7 and sent out invitations, we decided not to change the date,” said Atoh.

The brides were hilariously met with celebrations despite being an examination hall

“I was excited graduating and wedding at the same time. My classmates were so happy, when I walked into the hall, for ten minutes everybody was just shouting before we started the exam and after the exam, I went back to the reception venue because my guests were waiting for me,” said Atsea.

Benjamin Ogbu, their lecture, said he had little efforts to influence the change of the date to suit the two women’s interests

“It was not going to be fair to alter the timetable because of one or two persons, and usually it’s always a long process because you need to go through academic planning and the rest.

“University system is such that you don’t have compassionate grants for people subjectively. If you do such, you compromise standards,” said Ogbu.
