Former President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Daughter Charlene Ruto turned heads over the weekend as they attended a glamorous wedding in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The star-studded event brought together high-ranking officials, dignitaries, and celebrated guests to witness the union of Captain Amanuel Workneh and his bride, Mahilet Terefe.

The wedding, held in the heart of Ethiopia’s capital, was more than just a celebration of love—it was a grand display of cultural elegance and international camaraderie. Amanuel is the son of Dr Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), adding a diplomatic air to the festive occasion.

Charlene Ruto, known for her vibrant public appearances and growing influence as Kenya’s first daughter, made a lasting impression with her fashion-forward style. She wore a stunning off-shoulder red dress with ruffled edges that perfectly suited the joyous atmosphere. Her look was accentuated by a traditional beaded Maasai necklace, a nod to her Kenyan roots. Completing the ensemble was a modest white clutch with a silver chain strap and silver open-toe heels, blending tradition with modern sophistication.

Charlene later took to Instagram to share snippets from the celebration, including a touching video where Dr Gebeyehu spotted and waved at her in the crowd. Her posts offered fans a glimpse into the intimate and jubilant moments of the ceremony.

Uhuru Kenyatta, ever the statesman, opted for a refined yet relaxed look. He wore a navy blue blazer with gold buttons, a crisp white shirt, beige trousers, and polished brown leather shoes. In photos shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account, the former head of state was seen warmly congratulating the couple and exchanging pleasantries with his long-time friend, Dr Gebeyehu.

“During the joyous ceremony, marked by vibrant cultural displays, Kenyatta extended his warmest congratulations to the couple, wishing them a future filled with love, unity, and shared success,” read a caption from his official team.

The bride, Mahilet Terefe, was breathtaking in an off-shoulder white gown, exuding grace as she walked down the aisle accompanied by her parents. The groom, Amanuel, looked dashing in a sleek black suit, completing the picture-perfect moment.

The high-profile Ethiopian wedding is the latest in a series of elegant ceremonies graced by Uhuru Kenyatta in recent months. Not long ago, he was also spotted at the lavish wedding of James Kimoi, son of Gideon Moi, in Nairobi. Dressed in coordinated outfits with Kalonzo Musyoka—both in Fedora hats and holding walking sticks—Uhuru appeared relaxed and jubilant, enjoying his post-presidency years with grace.

Charlene’s appearance at the Ethiopian wedding further solidifies her presence in East Africa’s social and diplomatic scenes. Her blend of modern fashion with cultural heritage continues to draw attention and admiration across the region.

As the dust settles from this luxurious celebration in Addis Ababa, one thing is certain—Charlene Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta are not only icons of leadership but also figures of style, grace, and continental unity.
