Laikipia women rep Catherine Waruguru was barred from spending a night with her husband after they could not produce a marriage certificate to prove they were couples.
Sunshine Hotel based in Kericho town, requires two guests of opposite gender to prove they are couples before they are allowed to spend nights together in the same room.
“Every couple has to produce a marriage certificate to book a room. Some managers even threatened to quit, saying the rules denied the hotel more clients, but I stood my ground. I said I would rather lose them than cave in to spoil family morals that my dad warned me against, “said James Mwangi- Hotel owner.
Waruguru and hubby Wakili Kiget had booked the hotel around 4pm on Saturday, only to come back at 9pm and get blocked from spending night together.
“As a leader I feel that I have been embarrassed and kept here for more than an hour trying to seek the attention of the manager and no one has answered my question,” said Waruguru
The two left the hotel after 2 hours of push and pull.
