Mobile chat app WhatsApp went down on 22nd January in 2019 around 9.00pm, affecting millions of users across the world.
The issue which was reported by the users had 59% having issues with receiving messages while 22% unable to have good connectivity.
Down Detector already received a surge indicating the app was down.
Even though the Down Detector reported the outage in UK and US, online users on Twitter from other countries also experienced the issue.
The down time of Whatsapp comes few days after the app limited number of forwarded messages to reduce spread of fake news
