In each of our eyes there is a small hole called lacrimal pneumonia; located in the lower corner of the eyelids, near the nose. This “mysterious” hole has an essential role in the path of tears.
And we do not mean that tears come from these cavities! Actually, they act as a kind of “drain”.
Most of our crying occurs in the lacrimal glands, which are inside the upper eyelid; that is, the drop comes from above, the eye and is drained by the lacrimal points to the nose
What happens if the tear duct becomes blocked?
In most cases, this problem arises as a result of an injury, infection or tumor, and has the following symptoms:
- Excessive tearing
- Redness of the white part of the eye
- Eye infection or inflammation (conjunctivitis)
- Painful swelling near the inside corner of the eye
- Blurry vision
If you tear for several days it is important that you go to the doctor, because when accumulating, you can promote the development of bacteria, viruses and fungi.
