On 6/3/19, government deployed Kenya Defence Forces at JKIA during the workers strike that saw normal operations halted leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.
The Kenya Air Force personnel at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport assisted in operations that needed trained staff especially ground flight operations
Also National Youth Service (NYS) were seen at JKIA assisting in several areas where need was wanted
The aviation workers had opposed to the planned merger between Kenya Airways and the Kenya Airports Authority.
The arrangement will see KQ operate JKIA.
