Gor Mahia’s coach Jose Marcello’s tactic is arguably the best in Kenyan Premier League as is evident from the matches he has overseen as a coach since he joined the side.

He joined the champions in March after Frank Nuttall’s exit and as a matter of fact, the Brazilian has done a remarkable job with the team. Out of 12 matches in all competitions, he has only lost once against Tusker FC in a league match and won ten.

He only drew against Ushuru FC in April. The 2016’s KPL Top 8 tournament has been relatively smooth to him having outclassed Ushuru in the quarters and beaten Tusker in the semis’ first leg encounter on Sunday.

Now that’s where his prowess hit the mark especially in his fielding. He is a coach, who knows which player to field. For example, against Tusker in Top 8, he decided to field youngsters Amos Nondi, Ernest Wendo and the now regular starter Eric Ouma and they never disappointed at all. His decisions are always working and from his post-match interview, the trick was all out there.

“We fielded a number of young players with around 20 years of age whose energies were crucial in our quest for victory. Notably (Nondi) played well in his first game after Walusimbi missed out,” Ze Maria told Goal.

Nondi, formerly with the club’s junior team, was excited and promised to work even harder in order to maintain his position in the senior team after playing full game for the first time since his promotion.

“I am doing my best to impress the coach who has entrusted me with the chance  and I will continue fighting in order to cement my position  in the first team. Big thanks to my teammates and the technical bench for the support they have given me since I got promoted from the junior team because the environment has helped me settle fast.”

With his hand on the technical bench’s appointments which has seen an assistant coach from Brazil plus notable recruitment in the transfer window which includes the capturing of countryman Thiago Silva, Ze Maria is expected to sweep good results against his opponents in the league and all other tournaments.
