South African lawmakers have selected the then deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa to succeed scandal tainted Jacob Zuma.

He went unopposed after only his name was submitted therefore invalidating the voting process. The new SA’s president is said to assume office immediately shortly after serving in an acting position as the president.

Zuma was forced to resign following an uproar from his own ruling party ANC who claimed that he had thrown the nation into corruption scandals during his reign.

Contrary to their 1996 constitution, Kenya’s 2010 constitution sees the President elected by the people on a popular vote, and the deputy president succeeds the president incase of any vacuum.

President Uhuru Kenyatta was one of the first Presidents to congratulate newly elected president of South Africa who is also the party leader of ANC which was founded by Nelson Mandela and the like minded cohorts during the struggle for their independence.
