Better known as Atemi , she was born as Atemi Oyungu. Her best hits include ‘Moyo’ done with Khaligraphy Jones and ‘Bebi Bebi’

Even though she has kept a low class appearance, Atemi is such a musician with a big story behind her just like herself.

Here are 10 facts you did not know about Kenyas most celebrated female artist Atemi.

  1. Carol Atemi Oyungu was born and raised in Kenya
  2. She started singing when she was 10 years old
  3. She joined Eric Wainaina in 2007 after leaving other small bands which were not well performing.
  4. Oyungu released her first single “Happy” in 2004 and her debut album Hatimaye in 2008, and her second studio album Manzili in 2013.
  5. During the early 2000s, she worked with various famous artists of then such as Nikki, Lady Jaydee, Chris Adwar and Delvin Mudigi.
  6. Atemi has also worked as a Tusker Project Fame‘s sixth season music director. She worked with Tim Rimbui
  7. She has been involved in film making such as the famous Tinga Tinga Tales
  8. Atemi has produced and recorded atleast 15 songs of her lifetime
  9. She boosts of being a song writer, singer and an actress
  10. Her genres include
