Following your dreams in schooling and the path to your your calling career can be a dilemma in equal measure.
For comedians who already have a better paying talent, it is easy for them to give a cold feet to studies and even abandon them completely.
But not all of them can do so, we look at 10 Kenyan comedians who went ahead to finish their studies parallel to their already matured and well paying career to their talent.
Please note that some of the celebs are from Uganda or Tanzania but they are currently serving with their talents in Kenya.
One open lesson we can learn from them is the fact that education should never be thrown under the tables despite success in other careers.
1.Owago Onyiro
When Owago was admitted to the bar of comedians by Churchill Show, he was still studying at the Technical University of Kenya.
He did not defer or terminate his education, he went on to finish his studies and graduated as a certified accountant and an engineer
2.Smart Joker
Churchill Show comedian Michael Akala Omuka alias Smart Joker in 2018 finally graduated from Kenya’s top media school,Kenya Institute of Mass Communication.
3.Salvador
Patrick “Salvador” Idringi when he joined comedy, he was a telecommunication engineer. Salvador has made fame in the world of comedy but he still sees the value of education even on stage.
4.Henry Desagu
Ithagu Kibicho better known as Henry Desagu won the Youtube Silver award which is normally honored to Youtube creative content creators world wide.
The funny comedian is very well educated, he studied at Menengai High School. After high school, he joined Kenyatta University to pursue a Bachelor of Economics degree
5.Dr. Kingori
Dr. Kingori who has a degree in Journalism, hosts comical show on NTV dubbed Wicked Edition
His show is funny and big enough for the Kenyan crowd.
Kingori says after university, he failed to secure a job before he decided to venture into comedy , a gamble that turned to be a jackpot win for him.
6.Njugush
Despite studying in eight primary schools because of the nature of his dad’s work, Njugush studied at Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) where he studied Journalism.
Today, Njugush aka Timothy Kimani Ndegwa is an online comedian as well as a celebrated TV comedian
7. Jasper Muthomi aka Mc Jessy
MC Jessy who is a common face on NTV episodes of Churchill raw and Churchill show worked so had to earn his fame.
Being lucky, he went to one of the iconic private university in Kenya, Daystar University
MC Jessy was born and raised in Egoji village in Meru county,he attended Embu county for primary education and later went to st Cyprian boys for his secondary education.
8.Churchill
Daniel Ndambuki aka Mwalimu Kingángí or Churchill, his is undeniably the father of comic in Kenya.
This is due to his mastery of comedy, humorist as well as a skilled artist who doubles up as a radio host.
On his education level, he studied at Mumbuni high school in Machakos before he joined Daystar University. He choose to study at the Nairobi based university instead of joining a good offer he had been given at Chicago university in USA.
9.Eddie Butita
Eddie Butita is a graphic design graduate.
He began his career back while in his boyhood days while living in Nairobi’s Kasarani estate.
Butita is one of the most celebrated TV hosts and comedian in Kenya who features majorly on NTV
10.Erick Omondi
Despite him quiting active TV presence, Erick Omondi has remained more relevant than ever.
He is arguably Kenya’s most funny man, out of mainstream TV channels
Erick Omondi has studied in the following institutions
He started school at Kondele Primary School and later joined Kisumu Boys High School for his secondary education.
