We are barely at the half of 2019, yet celebs engagements, weddings and new relationships are already booming in Kenya
For the few months we have had in 2019, already there are a good number of celebs who are already in legal marriage, serious relationships while others are with engagement rings on their fingers .
Here are Kenyan celebs who have already found their soul mates in the year 2019
1.Michele Morgan
Former K24 TV siren Michelle Morgan wedded her longtime Chinese boyfriend Peng Chen in a romantic gateway located along beaches in Seychelles
The new weds who have been dating for the last 3 years are also expecting their first child, as it was clear from the huge baby bump seen hiding in her wedding gown.
Michele began her TV career at Citizen TV before she moved to K24 News TV .
While Peng is a famous globe-trotting entrepreneur as well as the managing director and co-founder of The Alchemist, located in Nairobi’s Westlands. He also served as the former Managing Director of Easy Taxi.
2.Kanze Dena
Former Citizen TV anchor Kanze Dena and current Statehouse spokesperson and Head of President’s Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU), got married on 2/03/2019.
The mother of one son, got married to an IT guru Nick Mararo at a heavily secluded area ( Ol Pejeta Conservancy ) in Laikipia County
The exotic venue of Sweet Waters Serena was overlooking mount Kenya and date was so private that it even got her close friends and other family members out of their eyes.
Phones were also not allowed in the highly guarded venue.
Among the invites-only, was her close friend and former co-anchor Lulu Hassan.
Kanze Dena choose a cream loose gown, which she used to walk down the aisle before exchanging vows with Nick Mararo at around 1 pm. Her new hubby choose a grey suit for the occasion
The theme of the event was white punctuated with touches of gold, the walkway was all glowing in white.
The bridesmaids were in blue; carrying bouquets of white roses while
best man and groomsmen dressed in grey suits and blue waistcoats.
The security men were dressed in black suits to ensure no phones were at the event. They were so strict and roughed up phones of even close family members.
Attendants had to get out of the event to take selfies
“She gave instructions that nobody should come with a phone. We had to get out of the venue to take selfies. She said she did not want a fuss,” said a source
Workers at Ol Pejeta were kept off the radar until the material day, they were only told that President Uhuru Kenyatta will attend the event but names of lovers kept in no tones.
At the event, only her camera persons were allowed to take pictures and immortalise their moment of love.
Parking lot was filled with speed-machines believed to have ferried high ranking government officials and dignitaries.
From Citizen TV, she choose just a few who included anchors Lulu Hassan, her husband Rashid Abdalla and Waihiga Mwaura
The two lovebirds are said to have jetted in from outside the country and kept at a high end facility before the wedding day.
“Some of the guests flew in on Saturday morning, but I’m not sure if there were any senior state officials,” said another source
Dena once shared how she battled with early pregnancy and contemplated on adoption of the baby after high school. The baby would later die.
She moved into another relationship and got a son, and she revealed that they are co-parenting despite separating years ago with baby daddy.
3.Youngest PhD Holder Dr.Ngina
Purity Ngina, who was born 29 years ago and Kenya’s youngest PhD holder got married via a colourful wedding to the love of her heart,Ritcher Mugambi
Their wedding took place on 22nd February 2019, few days after Valentine’s day which happened on 14th February
Purity is a PhD holder in PhD in Biomathematics from Strathmore University while her hubby Mugambiu is a Masters of Science at University of Rostoc in Germany.
Dr.Ngina and Mugambi got formally engaged in June 17th with a ring on her finger.
4.Anne Waiguru
Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru got her engagement ring at a deluxe hotel in Nairobi, the Lord Eroll hotel.
The event happened on 16th February 2019, two days after Valentine’s Day, which saw former Devolution CS and City lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo get their engagement official.
Waiganjo stated that “It was a beautiful ceremony. The time was right for us to take our relationship to the next level”.
Waiguru also confirmed that the event took place.
I was completely surprised. We had not been talking about formalising our relationship so I did not expect it. We had just come from holidays and were celebrating his birthday as we do with close friends every year.”
The two first met in Likoni, Mombasa near the ferry before they shared a bread and a soda. That was however 10 years ago in 2009.
Waiganjo was convinced and right from that moment, started pursuing her with phone calls and sms.
“She was on phone the whole time. I had to ask her why she was not paying attention to our date,” says Kamotho.
This forced them to make relationship ‘laws’ when they are together.
“We agreed that when we are together and with family, phones are kept aside unless it is completely necessary. I am not doing badly nowadays,” Waiguru confirmed.
5.Dennis Okari
NTV news anchor and top editor Dennis Okari had the official wedding with his wife Naomi Joy, at an event located in Kiambu.
The posh event was attended only by invites made up of family members and close friends.
The wedding took place in February 2019, few days after Valentine’s day
His ex wife, Betty Kyallo had recently revealed that she was happy Dennis Okari had moved on.
