5 Kenyan Politicians Fighting Hard To See Bhang Legalized

Simon Mwaura, from Hyaquip Kenya—a science and innovation company discovered that smoking cigarettes was more dangerous than smoking bhang. He also added that bhang was not as bad as the general public thought.

The debate over decriminalizing marijuana aka cannabis sativa has been gaining weight in Kenya. Below are a list of top politicians who are fighting to legalize marijuana in Kenya

1.Kibra MP Ken Okoth

ODM Kibra MP has already written to his speaker Justin Muturi asking him to faciliate him in preparing and drafting the Marijuana Control Bill.

The bill seeks to make use, cultivation and trade of cannabis sativa legal in Kenya.

Hon.Ken Okoth also seeks safe use of the drug, humble taxation and a body to register and regulate farming of the drug.

He also want research firms set up in order to facilitate development of the drug into positive use.

2.Raila Junior Odinga.

Raila Odinga’s son Raila Jr. also seeks to make the drug legal in Kenya.

The NASA leader’s son wanted the government to have discussions on legalisation and control of marijuana.

3.Gwada Ogot

The Siaya county researcher in 2017 wanted the state to legalize Marijuana. He petitioned the senate  in February 2017  asking bhang to be made accessible for public use.

4.David Ndii

NASA Chief Strategist and political economist also lauded the debate on making cannabis sativa legal. He asked the government to make it public.

Ndii was replying to a tweet from government joint on accounts of nabbing rolls of bhang.

5.Section of Senators in 2017

When Gwado Ogot took his case to the Senate house, a number of senators supported his proposals and asked house speaker to allow him defend his case.

The senators were Senators Isaac Mwaura (Nominated), Fred Outa (Kisumu), George Khaniri (Vihiga), Ledama Ole Kina (Narok) and Stewart Madzayo (Kilifi)
