Microsoft announced a new unusual application recently during an event dubbed Build 2016 which saw also Microsoft launch more other new products to its customers. But nothing is said to have moved the crowd more than the new AI tech application that could change the lives of the visually impaired.
The application, which was developed by engineer Saqib Shaikh who lost his eye sites at the age of 7, is aided by smart glasses and image recognition software.
The following are how amazingly the application works by helping those who are totally blind.
- It allows the blind to receive an audio description of what is happening around them
- It can also recognize activities happening around you such as physical characteristics and emotions of people around the blind person
- It can also recognize physical status of people them around such as the age, gender and physical size of individuals the blind person could be talking to
- The app can read a menu to the eyeless person including the price tags in a hotel or a shopping complex
- The application can help also those public speakers by telling them the size of the crowd and their emotions
Though the application is not yet released, it is going to be a good recipe of technology for the blind who are always left behind in technology advancement.
The idea is a collaboration between Pivothead which are the makers of Go-Smart Glasses and Microsoft Cognitive Services team.
