When it comes to the dating game, how do you know whether you’re dating a girl or a woman?

And what’s your flavor anyway? The former or the latter? Hmm…

Well here are signs that you’re dating a woman and not a girl:

1. Independence

A woman does not have the ‘nibuyie’ mentality. If she wants something she will get it herself. Matter of fact, you can even go 50-50 on bills or she will be willing to take the tab and treat you once in a while when you go on a date night. A girl on the other hand will expect to be treated every time.

2. Trends

A woman is not so keen on following the latest trends. She can pretty much go out in jeans, a nice pair of heels and blazer and still feel sexy; she knows that looks are just a plus … a girl on the other hand is keen on the latest trends. She draws inspiration from pop culture and wants the latest nails, hair trends and fashion as seen on A-list celebrities. She feels the need to look sexy all the time…hence, the ‘close to naked’ mirror selfies that she has all over her social media accounts.

3. Social Media

A woman is not too keen on social media…”Snapchat? oh I’ll pass”. She will occasionally check her Facebook and perhaps Instagram where she has only a few followers albeit she would rather keep herself busy with other things. A girl on the other hand, well she’s on all social media accounts more often than not with a name like ‘bosschic’ or ’empress’ as the prefix.

4. Entertainment

A woman is more keen on reading more books than catching up with the latest episode of ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ or the ‘Nairobi Diaries’ ladies …  A girl can tell you the whole cast of The Real Housewives franchise ratchet TV but has no clue about Chinua Achebe.

5. Knowledge

A woman is more knowledgeable on global affairs. You can hold a decent conversation about ISIS or global warming and the likes and even seek advise on professional or social matters from her. A girl on the other hand cares more about celeb gossip and all things pop culture.

6. Playing games

A woman knows exactly what she wants in a relationship and if it’s not working for her, she will opt out or try to make it work; she will not play silly mind games as she’s too old for that. A girl on the other hand will demystify every single text you send her and has no idea what she wants when it comes to relationships.

7. Talking about the future

A woman talks about the future; starting a family, marriage, career moves et al. A girl on the hand is more concerned about the matters at hand. E.g. ‘Where’s the turn up this weekend?’
