Bizarre Stories Kenyan Women Tell About The Premier League

Listening to a local radio show this morning really got me started for the weekend. I was absolutely stimulated when my favorite radio presenters took a tangent today and decided to dive into sports as the main topic. Yes, it happened today on Kenyan radio.

It was with a twist, you see, and rightfully so because everyone’s been talking about it. Follow my lead…

So yeah, as usual, I’d been expecting my Friday dose of relationship discussions and dramatic illustrations to get my much needed adrenaline fix but this caught me off guard. I’m sure it did the same to most people too.

The moment they announced that today they’d discuss The Foxes, I had mixed feelings …but mostly that this was going to be good. Needless to say, they didn’t disappoint. The banter on The Foxes and how they’ve incredibly managed to win the Premier League this season was absolutely engaging.

It’s one of the world’s greatest sporting events of all time and I discovered that kumbe Kenyan women know a lot about soccer as they do about relationships …wueeh! Sample this from a lady caller:

“These guys had a plan from the start and that’s how they managed to win. MY HUSBAND had THE SAME pLAN. HE won me over by ONE STEP AT A TIME, don’t ask for more details but THAT IS WHY I’LL always support the FOXES,” she said.

I was inspired. Yes, I really was! Well, not about how to win a woman over …but that’s not a bad idea either. I digress. Having thought about it much, I related it to anything an everything we do.

Persistence of character and being focused on what you’d like to achieve. One step at a time, one day at a time, one game at a time. Reminds me of a friend who asked me how I overcome fear.

I tend to remind myself of previous achievements and tell myself that whatever I am about to do is nothing different – it’s just a task that’s on a bigger scale. When it comes to debating on how the team (which many underrated and did not expect to make such a historical move) won,  I must admit that I am more of a positive person and that’s why I’ll be getting together with my dream team this weekend to strategize on our next big moves in life.
