Being a more productive professional can represent numerous advantages for your career, but reaching the peak of your productivity can be more difficult than you would like.
If you want to produce more during working hours to be recognized as a more efficient professional, here are 7 simple ways to organize your day and become more productive:
1. Write your goal for the day
Start the day with a goal in mind. Take a few minutes to think about your overall goals and decide what your goal for the day is. A good idea is to reflect on your big life goal and what you can do throughout the day to get closer to achieving it. This will guide your day’s schedule.
2. Create a list
Make a list divided into three different sections. The first must represent the whole, that is, the long-term objectives. Write in that section all the steps you will have to take to achieve them. Then write down your daily tasks. Remember to write down everything you have to accomplish throughout the day. The last column should be reserved for tasks that do not fit the previous two. Highlight two or three items in the second column to stay focused during the day.
3. Schedule breaks
After you have created your list, try to fit breaks between scheduled tasks. This will make you distracted and perform better in the activities you have to complete by the end of the day.
4. Solve the most difficult first
A good strategy is to solve the most complicated tasks first, or leave them to be completed at a time when you feel most active. In this way, you will be more focused and ensure that the most complicated problems will be solved.
5. Avoid distractions
When you’re working, do it 100%. No distractions with social networks, conversations or cell phone messages. Make it a priority to finish your tasks as soon as possible, to be free for more enjoyable activities.
6. Have time for yourself
Although you must work in a serious and focused manner, this does not mean that you forget yourself. Reserve a time of day for yourself and do what you really like. This will allow you to feel more relaxed and willing to complete all the tasks at hand.
7. Review at the end of the day
After leaving work, review your day by comparing it to the lists you initially established. Check what tasks were accomplished, reflect on whether or not you were able to complete your daily goal and analyze whether it was closer to your big goal. This will help you think and plan the next day.
