Kenyan born winger Bruce Kamau played for 84 minutes winning a penalty in the second half as his Australian club Adelaide United beat Melbourne City 4-1 in an Australian League play-offs semis match played on Friday 22 April.
A quick second half double from Bruce Djite put the hosts on course of a convincing win. The striker opened the scores on the 46th minute with a ferocious drive from outside the area before doubling the lead in the 59th minute from the spot after Kamau was fouled in the area.
Nick Fitzgerald reduced the deficit for the visitors in the 72nd minute with a stunning volley but Dylan MCgowan ensured there was no way back for City when he scored Adelaide’s third goal in the 87th minute to kill City’ s hopes of a come-back. Substitute Pablo Sanchez completed the rout late in stoppage time.
The win sends the Reds into Australian League Grand Finals where they will face the winner of the clash between Brisbane Roar and Western Sydney Wanderers.
