If you live in a distant city or if you are having difficulty scheduling an interview with the recruiter, due to busy times on both sides, he can ask you to do an online interview. The measure can make life easier for both, however, as it is still not very common today, an online interview can be a trap for respondents.

Get to know 9 things you shouldn’t do in a digital interview:

1- Do not ignore what is behind you

It is not because it is an online interview that you will not maintain rigor and formality. So if the place you are in is untidy, the recruiter will understand and take that into account.

2- Do

Don’t dress casually Don’t make the mistake of thinking that just because you’re at home, sitting in your room, you don’t have to dress properly. Don’t forget that you have to impress the recruiter in the same way that you would during a physical interview. If you are sure that the interviewer will not be able to see the bottom, shoes are optional.

3- Test your internet connection

There is nothing worse than the slow image online, conversations that arrive late and abrupt drops in an interview. You will have a bad image, even if you are not to blame for it.

4- Don’t fix the screen

Don’t look at your computer screen. Instead, look at the camera, because in this way you will appear to be looking into the interviewer’s eyes.

5- Don’t drive!

In addition to being illegal, driving and talking on your cell phone at the same time is not at all safe. So, schedule the interview for a time when you know you’re going to be completely focused.

6- Do not do the interview in high places

Do not do the interview in shopping centers, cafes and other places where you know from the outset that the outside noise is loud and passive to cause distractions, both for you and for the interviewer. The recruiter may have difficulty listening to you and will quickly lose interest in you.

7- Don’t be insecure

The presence of a device to establish the connection between you and the recruiter can make you feel insecure and shy. If necessary, practice with friends first and don’t forget to look at the camera.

8- Do not take vocal pauses

Many interviewees get nervous during the interview, start stuttering and use vocal pauses like “am”, “hum”, etc. Try to practice some obvious questions first so you don’t give the recruiter the impression that you’re nervous.

9- Do not do the interview in a dark place

Sometimes you may think that the lighting is suitable for your camera, but the interviewer may not be seeing you properly. So light up where you are going to be located
