Nuru Okanga, a prominent political activist and a staunch supporter of Raila Odinga, has made headlines with his recent comments about his future political ambitions and business ventures. Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Okanga revealed that he is busy in his village, located in Kakamega County, working diligently to build his political profile ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Okanga has set his sights on clinching the Kholera MCA ward seat, with a clear focus on addressing the struggles his community faces. He has been actively involved in community outreach, particularly addressing issues affecting new mothers, many of whom have faced difficulties due to the government’s removal of the Linda Mama cover. This program, which previously provided free maternity services, had been crucial for many, but its removal has left several mothers struggling to pay for childbirth services, resulting in some being detained at hospitals for non-payment. Okanga has personally bailed out ten mothers detained at Matungu Sub-county Hospital, showcasing his dedication to improving the lives of the less fortunate.
In addition to his political aspirations, Okanga is also focused on growing his business. He denied social media rumors that he was broke, explaining that he has invested in a posho mill, a shop, and poultry business. These investments are proving lucrative, with Okanga reportedly earning KSh 500 daily from the posho mill. He expressed pride in his entrepreneurial endeavors, dismissing claims of financial struggle and asserting that his business activities provide him with a steady income.
Okanga’s political ambitions also extend to supporting other key figures. He has endorsed Kalonzo Musyoka for the presidency in 2027, expressing his confidence in Musyoka as the right leader for the country. Okanga also named Eugene Wamalwa as Musyoka’s running mate, further solidifying his support for the Wiper Party.
On a more personal note, Okanga recently faced a surge in attention following a generous donation of KSh 700,000 from MP Oscar Sudi. While this financial gift brought him attention, it also led to unsolicited messages from women in his direct messages (DMs), with some asking him out on dates. Okanga, who is married to Emelda, addressed this situation firmly, warning women to stay away from his DMs, as he has no intention of engaging with them romantically.
As Okanga continues to expand his business and prepare for the 2027 elections, his story serves as an example of how political figures can blend activism, business, and community service to make an impact. His future in both politics and entrepreneurship looks promising, as he works hard to secure his position in Kakamega County and beyond.
