Oscar Sudi, the Kapseret legislator, has won praise for his heartfelt support of Dwayne Mwangi Mungai’s grieving mother following the tragic death of the Timba XO nightclub employee. Mungai, who passed away on January 27, 2025, was mourned by his colleagues and friends, with Timba XO club members attending his emotional funeral in large numbers. During the ceremony, Oscar Sudi, who is the patron of the nightclub, made a series of heartfelt promises to assist Mungai’s family, especially his mother, in their time of need.

In a powerful show of kindness, Sudi promised to build a three-bedroom house for Mungai’s mother. “You will be my neighbour. I will build you a three-bedroom house so you can live well,” he told the grieving mother, drawing cheers from the attendees. His words resonated with many, as he further expressed hope that the home would help ease the pain of her loss. “Though Dwayne was young, he left behind blessings. I hope this will wipe away your tears,” Sudi said.

In addition to the house, Sudi also handed Mungai’s mother KSh 400,000, hoping to offer some immediate financial support during this difficult time. “Give me six months to finish the house for you,” he promised, showing his commitment to seeing through the fulfillment of his pledges.

The politician’s gesture was widely appreciated, with many TikTok users commenting on his compassion. One user, @Seyga, expressed gratitude, saying, “RIP Dwayne. Sudi, may God bless you,” while others praised the politician’s kindness, despite the usual political controversies that often surround such public acts of charity.

However, some commenters were skeptical of the public display, with @Isaac Wonder noting, “There is usually a lot of politics at funerals and money can easily cause trouble. You should have given it to her privately.”

Oscar Sudi’s act of kindness follows a similar commitment made earlier to Nuru Okanga, a well-known ODM supporter, where he pledged financial support and assistance in securing a home. While Okanga later expressed dissatisfaction over some unfulfilled promises, Sudi’s support for Mungai’s mother has undoubtedly earned him praise from a wide range of people, highlighting his willingness to help those in need during difficult times.
