Kenyan actress and media personality Jackie Matubia has finally shared her much-requested hair care routine, giving fans insight into how she maintains her daughters’ long, healthy hair. The celebrated actress, known for her vibrant online presence, revealed that she never shaves her children’s hair after birth, opting instead for gentle trims and early care.

In a recent post, Matubia addressed the frequently asked questions surrounding her daughters Zari and Zendaya’s luscious locks. She explained that she begins detangling and moisturising their hair as early as two months after birth. “No, I don’t shave my kids’ hair! All I used to do is trim ‘nywele ya tumbo’ and I start using a detangler and moisturising the hair from like two months,” she wrote. She also pointed out that her children’s hair grows fast, a trait she credits to genetics.

Matubia noted that hair texture runs strongly in her family. She shared that she inherited her mother’s hair, her eldest daughter Zari inherited hers, while Zendaya got her great-grandmother’s hair type. “Genes so strong juu baba zao hawana nywele,” she joked, adding how grateful she feels raising daughters who carry forward her family’s natural beauty.

While Matubia did not disclose the specific hair products she uses, her routine clearly focuses on consistent moisturising, early detangling, and gentle styling. Her candidness has inspired many parents, especially those raising girls with natural hair, to embrace a more mindful approach to hair care from infancy.

Fans have praised her for being transparent and for setting a positive example. Many have admired the strength, shine, and volume of her daughters’ hair, making them a source of hair inspiration for Kenyan parents and beyond. Jackie Matubia’s openness serves as a reminder that, while good genes help, intentional care and early nurturing play a vital role in growing and maintaining healthy hair.
