Another batch of maize arrived yesterday from Ukraine and Russia, ending another series of continued Unga shortage.
Unga was now retailing back to sh.200 per 2kg, away from its normal sh.90. And some small fish ‘cartels’ have been arrested and charged with crime of selling it beyond sh.90 with GoK mark.
Government announced that the Unga will be served more to people with familes to feed kids, while unmarried men will be given less priority in the distribution of maize flour.
NCPB, in Eldoret residents were required to prove that they are married and that they have kids.
