A film depicting Lesbianism Rafiki has been banned by Kenya Film and Classification Board.

The first of its kind produced and shot in Kenya, features two young ladies in same sex love relationship which was initially opposed by family and their community

The film banned by KFCB boss Ezekiel Mutua will premier at Cannes next month May 2018.

The Kenya Film Classification Board has banned the film "RAFIKI" due to its homosexual theme and clear intent to promote lesbianism in Kenya contrary to the law and dominant values of the Kenyans.

The film was lifted from the short story Jambula Tree by Uganda’s award winning writer Monica Aruc de Nyeko.

The book received a Caine Prize Award Writing of the year in 2007

The moved has been termed by the film producer Wanuri Kahiu as very disappointing.

The moves comes barely a week after President Uhuru Kenyatta categorically stated on CNN interview with Christian Amanpour  , that Kenya had more serious issues to look into than LGBT debate
