Out of the 13, two Nigerians Aliko Dangote and Mike Adenuga tops the list of black billionaires at 10.9 billion USD and 9.1 billion USD respectively.

1.Aliko Dangote- 10.9 billion (Nigeria)

Cement mongul from Nigeria still tops the chart with a staggering 10.9 US billion Dollars

He also majors in flour and sugar

2.Mike Adenuga- 9.1 billion (Nigeria)

At 9.1 billion US Dollars, he is the second richest Nigerian and the second richest black as well as African.

He majors in oils and telecommunication company

3.Robert Smith- 5.1 billion (USA)

He owns Vista Equity Partners that focuses exclusively on investing in software companies.

Vista Equity has more than $30 billion in assets and is one of the best-performing private equity firms, posting annualized returns of 22% since inception.

4.David Steward – 3 billion (USA)

He is the the cofounder and chairman of IT provider World Wide Technology, World Wide Technology, an $11.2 billion (sales) IT provider, whose customers include Citi, Verizon and the federal government.

5.Oprah Winfrey- 2.5 billion (USA)

She is still the richest African-American person in the world thanks to her Harpo Productions and OWN- Oprah Winfrey Network.

6. Strive Masiyiwa – 2.4 billion (Zimbabwe)

He owns Econet that allows more than 10 million subscribers to connect and communicate effectively.

Econet is well established in most African countries such as Zimbabwe, Botswana, Burundi and Lesotho

7. Isabel Dos Santos –2.3 billion (Angola)

The oldest daughter of Angola’s former president owns a 25% stake in Angolan mobile phone company Unitel and a 25% stake in Angolan bank Banco BIC SA among other key of her investments

8. Patrice Motsepe- 2.3 billion (South Africa)

SA’s first and only black billionaire owns African Rainbow Minerals (ARM), a Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed mining company that has specialities mining in platinum, nickel, chrome, iron, manganese, coal, copper and gold

9. Michael Jordan- 1.9 billion (USA)

World’s best and greatest basketball player has huge stakes in Charlotte Bobcats  and lucrative advertising deals from Gatorade, Hanes and Upper Deck

He collects more than 1 billion sales from his partnership with Nike

10. Michael Lee-Chin- 1.9 billion (Canada)

The money-magnet of Canadian-Jamaican origin, has overwhelming 65% stake in National Commercial Bank Jamaica, which makes up the bulk of his fortune.

11. Abdulsamad Rabiu-1.6 billion (Nigeria)

Just like his fellow billionaires in Nigeria, Aliko Dangote and Mike Adenuga, he has invested vastly in cement and sugar sector.

Abdulsamad Rabiu is the founder of BUA Group, a Nigerian conglomerate with interests in sugar refining, cement production, real estate, steel, port concessions, manufacturing, oil gas and shipping.

12. Folorunsho Alakija- 1.1 billion (Nigeria)

The richest female billionaire in Nigeria is the founder of Famfa Oil, a Nigerian company that owns a substantial participating interest in OML 127

13. Mohammed Ibrahim – 1.1 billion (UK)

The half Sudanese-born Mohammed “Mo” Ibrahim is the owner of Celtel International since 1998, one of the first mobile phone companies serving Africa and the Middle East.

He sold it to Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications Company for $3.4 billion in 2005 and pocketed $1.4 billion. In 2007 he founded the Mo Ibrahim Foundation which promotes good governance in Africa.
