The weather man has spoken, and the only being who can go against him is God. This time it is not the scary El Nino, however temperatures are supposed to go high as 43 degree Celsius. This may not sound scary as the like El Nino which was a miscarriage, but its effects could be singled out as devastating than imagined before.

Before we look on the safety tips, let’s consider some of the health effects that heat waves cause on humans

  1. Dizziness and headache
  2. Fainting
  3. Dehydration
  4. Skin rashes
  5. Organ damage such as kidney
  6. Heat stroke
  7. Deaths

Though it is everyone’s prayer that the results by the weather man should develop into another miscarriage, it is better to stay safe with the following medical tips the temperatures continue to rage over.

  1. Maintain a proper hydration by drinking as much as more than eight glasses of water in a day. Also drink liquid drinks with high water content and avoid dehydrating drinks such as alcohol.
  2. Be aware of hot weather status and avoid hot rooms and places, stay in shades whenever possible and well ventilated rooms
  3. Avoid poorly ventilated rooms such as cars, avoid living kids inside cars at the car parks
  4. Stay on the lowest floor of the building and eat well balanced and light meals
  5. Wear loose-fitting, light colored and lightweight clothes
  6. Take cold drinks more than hot drinks especially refrigerated drinks.
  7. Ensure that your room is well insulated to dispose excess heat within
  8. Cover windows that expose your rooms to excess sun rays
  9. Use a fan if possible
  10. Avoid outdoor heavy games that expose you to excess heat
