7 Kenyan Stars Who Played In English Premier League

English Premier League is the most admired football competitions by Kenyan football lovers

Kenyan fanatics folk out their little earned cash just to get a chance and support their favorite clubs from England.

The most favorite clubs being Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool in that order of popularity in Kenya.

The biggest rivalry derby being between Arsenal and Manchester United, where on many occasion it ends bad with a Kenyan fan losing life

The EPL has also attracted some key talents from Kenya notably Totenham star Victor Wanyama and Liverpool’s striker Divock Origi.

We look at some key players to have been featured in the world’s most popular and famous competition

1.Victor Wanyama

Wanyama first joined EPL through Southampton when he signed a deal from Celtic.

After a success start , the Harambee stars moved to Totenham where he came close to winning the EPL title with the Spur isn 2014/15 season.

He however featured in UEFA Chanpions League Final where he lost to Liverpool in 2018/2019 season

Wanyama is a Kenyan citizen and plays for Kenyan national team as a captain and a defensive midfielder.

2.Divock Origi

Origi is arguably Kenya’s most successful kid in the field of football.

Origi first came to light in 2014 when he scored a winning goal for Belgium’s qualification to next round in World Cup.

He was signed by Liverpool FC from Lille. At Liverpool Fc he has won three cup titles with a key UEFA Champions League Title in 2019 where he played a key role.

In 2019, he is lauded as a key hero who led Liverpool to a historic comeback against Barcelona.

Origi has been lauded by Liverpool’s top coach Jurgen Klopp as a key player towards Liverpool’s title dreams

3.Marcus and Martin Waikwa twins

The two brothers were born to a Swedish father and a Kikuyu mother.

The two made their EPL signature with Derby county as left backs but were relegated.

Martin continued his EPL quest with different clubs namely Norwich city and Swan Sea city

The twins are however nationals of Sweden.

5.Curtis Osano

Born in 1987 from Nakuru Kenya, Osano’s lucky moment came when his dad moved to UK as a British soldier man.

Osano was part of the deadly Readin FC between 2005-2008 when they troubled other clubs in EPL title quest.

6.Tyler Onyango

Born to a Kenyan and British parent, Onyango signed a professional contrct with Everton at the age of only 16 years old.

Currently Onyango plays for Everton’s under 18 side where he has been lauded as a midfield machine.

7.Ananias

Better known as Jonah Ananias Paul Ayunga featured in EPL under the Seaguls aka Brighton & Hove Albion FC

He featured for Seaguls between 2016-2018.

By 2019, the 22 year old player joined Tottenham Hotspur where he was loaned back to his old club Havant & Waterlooville

Ayunga received his first call up to the Kenya national team on 5 August 2016
