Singer Bahati has publicly declared his wife, Diana Marua, as Kenya’s top rapper following her bold comeback track, Bibi Ya Tajiri. The song marked Diana’s return to music after a two-year hiatus and immediately sparked debate across the Kenyan music scene.

Released on Wednesday, September 3, Bibi Ya Tajiri came with a high-budget music video featuring luxury cars, a grand mansion, and glimpses of Diana’s opulent lifestyle. Expensive rides, including a blue Range Rover and a G-Wagon gifted by Bahati on Valentine’s Day, were prominently displayed. The video reportedly cost no less than KSh 3.5 million to produce.

The track portrays Diana as confident, wealthy, and unapologetically bold. In her lyrics, she crowns herself Kenya’s top rapper while taking subtle jabs at industry heavyweights such as King Kaka and Khaligraph Jones. The song has already accumulated over 468,000 views on YouTube, a figure Bahati cited as evidence of her dominance in the industry.

Speaking at a press event, Bahati said, “She is the best rapper in Kenya right now. Numbers don’t lie. She’s Kenya’s most subscribed female artiste and rapper, and content creator. Let us stop being stupid.” When asked about the video’s production cost, he confirmed the high expenditure but described it as a non-issue.

Public reception has been mixed. Some fans applauded Diana’s confidence and the song’s visuals, interpreting it as a strong statement of her artistry. Others dismissed the project as hype-driven and criticized it for prioritizing flashy content over musical quality.

Bibi Ya Tajiri highlights Diana Marua’s attempt to assert herself in Kenya’s rap scene, blending music with lifestyle branding. Whether the song will solidify her position as the country’s top female rapper remains a topic of debate, but Bahati’s endorsement underscores his unwavering support for her career comeback.
