Celebrity fashion designer Bolo Bespoke has once again sparked debate online after revealing that he does not have a permanent home in the village. The confession came weeks after his wife, Mueni, surprised him with a KSh 10 million luxury car, further fueling questions about his priorities.

Renowned Luo podcaster Kede Ojiwo, popularly known as Mr Kede, publicly questioned Bolo’s choices, particularly his decision to host a grand traditional wedding in Machakos in 2024 while his mother still lives in modest conditions. Mr Kede accused Bolo of focusing on public image instead of family obligations.

“As a man, would you allow yourself to waste money, and you know your mother is struggling? That woman has power over Bolo because money belongs to her. There is no way you can do an expensive wedding at your wife’s home, and your village looks like that,” Ojiwo said during his show. He went on to suggest that Mueni might have had influence over how the wedding was organised, hinting at tensions between Bolo’s wealth display and his family background.

Bolo had earlier explained that he intends to first build his mother a home before constructing his own. He argued that supporting his mother is his main priority, even if it means delaying personal projects. Despite this, critics like Ojiwo remain unconvinced, questioning the source of his wealth and the couple’s spending habits.

The controversy has stirred wide reactions from netizens. Some defended Bolo, pointing out that his mother’s home is already in good condition and that he is simply upgrading it. Others argued that Bolo and Mueni’s money is theirs to manage, and no one should dictate how they spend it. Several comments also suggested that jealousy may be driving the criticism, given the couple’s glamorous lifestyle.

Mueni has continued to support her husband openly. On Father’s Day, she surprised Bolo with a brand new Toyota Prado worth KSh 10 million, praising him as a dedicated husband and father. Videos of the gift went viral, showing Bolo excitedly testing the car with Mueni seated beside him. Many fans applauded her generosity and the couple’s strong bond.

Bolo Bespoke, who refers to himself as “the only legit designer in Africa,” is no stranger to controversy. From his high-profile wedding to his bold online statements, he has built a reputation for luxury and extravagance. His latest confession about his village home, however, has shifted focus to the balance between public image, family duty, and financial priorities.

While some continue to criticise, others admire his commitment to eventually upgrading his mother’s home. For now, Bolo and Mueni remain in the spotlight, embodying both the admiration and scrutiny that come with a lavish lifestyle.
