In Kenya , caning a pupil or a student was prohibited since 2001 by enacting enacted the Children’s Act (Government of Kenya, 2001) which entitles children to protection from all forms of abuse and violence.
Teachers who do so do it at their own peril, even though most have been taken to court and charged, corporal punishment in school continues to flourish.
As the school normally open in January, and a video has gone viral with students being punished brutally.
