Kenyan actor Dedan Juma Onyango, widely recognized for his role as Zeze on Showmax’s popular series Pepeta, is currently hospitalized and battling meningitis. His condition has prompted a heartfelt appeal to Kenyans for assistance with escalating medical expenses.

Juma has been admitted to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital after over a week of struggling with the illness. His family publicly shared updates on social media, revealing that as of August 11, 2025, his medical bills had surged to KSh 100,000 and were continuing to rise.

In an emotional message to his fans and the Kenyan community, Dedan Juma requested financial help to cover treatment costs. He wrote, “Greetings to you fellow Kenyans, I am kindly appealing to you my fans and kind fellow Kenyan community, whoever is in a position to help. This is a difficult journey alone, I hope and pray that you can stand with me in this. I appreciate any support.”

To facilitate contributions, a PayBill number has been provided: 400200, Account Number 01116104141000. Juma also encouraged fans to visit him at the hospital during visiting hours, from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at Ward Ostrich, Bed Number 20.

Support from fans has poured in since the appeal. Messages on social media express prayers and wishes for his speedy recovery. Examples include: “Nakutakia uponyaji wa haraka,” “Quick recovery our role model,” and “Zeze, don’t give up, stay strong.” The outpouring highlights the strong connection between Juma and his audience.

Earlier this year, Dedan Juma faced another challenge when his mabati house was damaged in a fire. In January 2025, he posted videos documenting the aftermath, showing damage to his roof and living spaces. Fans rallied around him then, providing encouragement and assistance.

Despite these setbacks, Dedan Juma’s spirit remains resilient. His current health battle has rallied widespread sympathy and support from fellow Kenyans and fans alike.

The actor’s openness about his health and financial struggles sheds light on the challenges many face with medical costs. His appeal emphasizes the need for community support during difficult times.

As Dedan Juma continues treatment for meningitis, fans and well-wishers remain hopeful for his recovery. His journey underscores the power of solidarity and the importance of standing together in times of crisis.
