Kenyan musician Didier Madzayo marked a strong return to the music scene with the release of his debut album, “Project Didier,” on November 22, 2025. The UK-based artist, son of Kilifi County Senator Stewart Madzayo, had taken a prolonged break from music following personal and mental health struggles. His comeback signals a new chapter in his career, showcasing his versatility and growth as a performer.
“Project Didier” features 10 tracks, including standout songs such as “Rudi,” “Ndogo,” “Have You Ever Loved,” “Nafu Celebrate,” “Discover,” “Niwe Tu Nawe,” “Bora,” “My Trust In You,” “Nasonga Mbele,” and “Uko Nami.” The album blends emotional depth with refined delivery, highlighting Madzayo’s signature vocal style and storytelling ability. Each track reflects his personal journey, combining melodic sensibility with lyrical authenticity.
The project brings together some of Kenya’s top producers, including Wuod Omollo, Ben Gittx Ndatha, and Saint P, ensuring a polished and dynamic sound. Collaborations with artists like Tony Maluda further enhance the album’s diversity and richness. The songwriting team, consisting of Madzayo, Olvine Japhet, Nviiri, Bosco Baya, and Jerry Ogallo, contributed to the album’s cohesive narrative and emotional resonance.
Madzayo revealed that the hiatus following his appearance on Tusker Project Fame Season 5 was influenced by family conflicts, career pressure, and mental health challenges. In a statement to TUKO.co.ke, he explained, “I had to take a break because a lot of things were happening at the same time. After TPF, I had challenges dealing with my immediate family, specifically my dad, who wanted me to focus on more serious things like my Law career. Following the dispute, I had to travel back to the UK, go through a stretch of discovery and finally came out stronger. I know my people missed me, but now I am back and I’m promising more hit songs, back to back.”
Madjayo also acknowledged the support he received from key figures during his comeback. Them Mushrooms legend John Katana, former TPF5 Academy Principal Hellen Mtawali, and DJ Shanga Tatu played crucial roles in restoring his confidence and encouraging him to complete the album. He expressed gratitude, stating, “People like Madam Hellen and Uncle John Katana reminded me that I needed to get back my spot in the music industry. That pushed me to make a comeback with a gift to my fans, The Project Didier Album.”
Since its release, “Project Didier” has gained traction across major music streaming platforms. Fans have praised the album for its expressive range, storytelling, and high-quality collaborations. The release positions Didier Madzayo as one of Kenya’s rising music talents ready to make a significant impact on both local and international stages.
The debut project signals a reinvigorated career for Madzayo, combining his experience, artistry, and personal growth into a compelling body of work. With “Project Didier,” he returns to the spotlight stronger, promising more music that resonates with fans and cements his place in the Kenyan music scene.
