Kenyan fans witnessed an exciting finale as 22-year-old Dillah Accelle from Chad was crowned Africa’s Next Super Model 2025. The competition, which featured 16 contestants from across Africa, took place at Nairobi’s Broadwalk Mall on Saturday, November 22. Kenyan model Lilian Amoni impressed the judges and made it to the top six, showcasing the country’s talent on a continental stage.
Accelle stood out for her confidence, poise, and professionalism throughout the competition. She received a $5,000 (KSh 645,000) prize from Chris Oputa of Studio 24 and Matteo Puglisi, CEO of Select Models Management. In addition, she will now work with international luxury fashion brands, gaining global exposure that could launch her career further.
The event opened with the Kenyan National Anthem, followed by a tribute to Air Vice-Marshall Terry Okorodudu, the late husband of Joan Okorodudu, founder of Isis Models. Although Joan could not attend, her heartfelt tribute was displayed to the audience, acknowledging her role in creating a platform that nurtures African fashion talent.
Several Kenyan leaders and creatives attended, including Collins Okoth from the Kenya Film Commission and Mumias East MP Peter Salasya. Okoth praised the competition for turning creative talents into careers and global opportunities. Cornell McBride, President of Design Essentials, was also present, showing continued support for African fashion. Daima Mkenya Africa added a patriotic touch by showcasing fabrics featuring the Kenyan flag.
Judges were impressed by Accelle’s growth during the competition. Matteo Puglisi noted her exceptional confidence and readiness for international modeling, calling her “destined for greatness.” After her win, Accelle expressed her excitement and urged young girls to pursue their dreams in fashion, saying her victory proves that hard work, perseverance, and confidence pay off.
Kenyan musician Bensoul entertained the crowd with a live performance, adding to the excitement of the night. Dillah Accelle’s win follows Chol Nyang, the 2024 winner, and marks the rise of a new African fashion star ready to make waves internationally. Kenyan audiences can take pride in Lilian Amoni’s strong showing, confirming Kenya’s growing presence in the continent’s fashion industry.
