Nairobi County Chief Officer for Environment Geoffrey Mosiria has celebrated the reinstatement of his TikTok account after it was banned. The account, which has over 1.2 million followers, was flagged and suspended after he posted a video from a Pipeline nightclub.

TikTok flagged the video as explicit content because it unintentionally captured women stripping inside the club. Clarifying the matter, Mosiria explained that the video was part of an enforcement activity meant to raise awareness and push authorities to take action against inappropriate behavior in public spaces. He stressed that his intention was never to promote explicit content but to highlight societal issues.

The ban was a heavy blow for Mosiria, who had used the platform to mobilize funds for Kenyans in need. Through TikTok, he helped raise KSh 422,000 for a child who required surgery in India, KSh 376,000 for a paralysed mother, and is currently working to raise KSh 300,000 for a child in need of throat surgery and KSh 50,000 for a girl who requires a prosthetic leg. “Ilikuwa uchungu,” he admitted, noting how much the suspension affected his work and connection with his fans.

The account was restored after intervention from key figures, including Dennis Itumbi, Head of Presidential Special Projects, and David Mugonyi, Director General and CEO of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK). Mosiria thanked them for their efforts, saying, “I want to sincerely thank CAK, Mugonyi, and Itumbi for their intervention and support in ensuring that due process was followed. This outcome not only restores my ability to engage with over 1.2 million followers but also reinforces the importance of fairness and transparency in digital platforms.”

Aside from his online presence, Mosiria has also been active in enforcing county regulations. Recently, he announced the closure of a notorious nightclub in Pipeline following complaints from residents about excessive noise. He was seen with county officials at the venue, questioning the management before seizing sound equipment. He urged owners of noisy clubs and brothels in residential areas to shut them down immediately, warning that the county administration would not tolerate such establishments.

With his account now restored, Mosiria has pledged to continue using TikTok as a platform to create awareness, mobilize support for medical cases, and champion community issues. His journey shows the growing power of digital platforms in driving social change while underlining the need for accountability and fairness in content moderation.
