According to a study carried out by the Kyorin University in Tokyo, doing it in the early morning, as soon as we get up, could improve our mental performance as well as our alertness.

To get the results, the project leader, Yoshihiko Koga, performed several mental exercises with people who were asked to make this change within their usual breakfast routine, and others who were asked to continue with their normal lives.

According to Koga, those who took the ice cream showed a faster reaction to the problems raised, as well as a better assimilation of the information presented to them.

They also had time to monitor and analyze their brain activity. Koga’s team discovered that ice cream drinkers had an increase in high frequency alpha waves, which are linked to high levels of vigilance and low mental irritation, which allowed them to be more awake and alert.

To check if the cold was the cause of this reaction in the brain, Koga also tried the same experiment but taking a good glass of cold water. Although there could be an increase in the level of alert, the results were not comparable with those achieved with ice cream.

The ice cream will give you happiness

Already in 2005, a study conducted by the Institute of Psychiatry in London confirmed that those who consumed ice cream activated in their brain the same areas as when one earned a lot of money or listened to their favorite piece of music.
